Knitted Knockers are prosthetic breasts for mastectomy patients. When placed in a bra, these knitted breasts take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are lighter and more comfortable than silicone prosthetic breasts. The knitted fabric breathes and prevents the heat rash experienced by many women wearing the silicone ones. We are now a 501 (c)(3) public charity.

Knitted Knockers, Why We Are Involved.

Why are we involved in setting up a network to make, distribute and educate people about Knitted Knockers?

Tempe Yarn originally began our Knitted Knocker program as a short term community support program for a local cancer center (Chandler Regional Hospital Cancer Center). But our fiber community was so moved by the stories shared by those who received the Knitted Knockers that it has taken on a life of its own. To be able to knit (or crochet) a simple Knitted Knocker in a few hours that will change how someone feels about themselves is amazing.
